I'm using a disc with Redshift tag as a Shadow Catcher, would that make any difference to the strength of shadows?Īm I missing something obvious here? I watched a tutorial on YouTube which added a custom AOV using the Materials > Utilities > AO node but this looks like it will render a separate pass and I can't see that it makes much difference to the IPR preview whether it's enabled or not, same when rendering to picture viewer. I know there is an AO node for plugging into the 'Overall' node on individual materials (although I think even that seems to have changed with the latest 3.5 release) but even this doesn't seem to help with contact shadows. With Cinema's internal Physical renderer there is render effect called 'Ambient Occlusion' which you add and it applies it to the whole scene.

With Camera Type you can override the camera type from the standard Cinema 4D one to one of the Redshift ones. I'm currently trialling Redshift for Cinema4D and I've noticed my renders seem to be a bit light on the contact shadows. In the Attribute Manager you can find all Redshift specific settings in the Redshift Camera tab, Let's check out some of the parameters.
